Claude Code vs. Windsurf

TL;DR. Want to work with AI inside a familiar editor and see changes before they happen? Windsurf. Want the most capable agent in the terminal that handles whole tasks itself? Claude Code.

Both are AI tools for people going a bit deeper than a browser builder. Windsurf is a code editor with built-in AI (close to Cursor); Claude Code works in the terminal – your computer's text console – and tends to handle tasks on its own.
