How to pick the right tool
Nearly every comparison here comes down to one question: do you want to click around in a browser and see something right away, or do you want real code in front of you? Lovable, Bolt and v0 are AI builders in the browser: you describe, they build, you look at the result. Cursor and Windsurf are editors – programs on your own machine where the AI writes alongside you. Claude Code is an agent in the terminal you hand tasks to. Replit sits in between: browser, but with the code visible.
For a first attempt with no background, a browser tool is almost always the better pick. Move to an editor or an agent once the builder's limits start to annoy you – or once you want to understand what is being created.
